Ensuring the Construction of ADA-Compliant Buildings

 Government Relations

Paralyzed Veterans of America Florida Chapter's staff and volunteers work closely with local, state, and federal government officials to provide consultation on the enforcement of the ADA, compliance with state and federal access codes, and sponsorship of legislation that improves the current guidelines for veterans and individuals with disabilities. Activities include educational seminars, which further the issue of disability awareness.

Building Codes

The Access Board - A federal agency committed to accessible design.

ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) - Includes supplements for state and local government facilities and for building elements designed for children's use.

The State of Florida Accessibility Code for Building Construction -Staff provides technical support to architects, building officials, and consumers about accessibility requirements established by the Florida Legislature for minimum accessibility criteria in buildings for people with disabilities.
